About us

The Wambule Rai Society of Nepal (WAMRAS) is the official organisation of the Wambule Rai, one of the Kiranti tribes of eastern Nepal. The society is committed to the recognition, protection and promotion of the Wambule language. The organisation encourages the use of the Wambule language, in speech and writing, in public and private life.

Where we live

The Wambule-speaking area is situated around the confluence of the Sunkosī and Dūdhkosī rivers in eastern Nepal, and comprises the southernmost part of Okhalḍhuṅgā district, the westernmost part of Khoṭāṅ district, the northernmost part of Udaypur district, and the northeasternmost part of Sindhulī district.
