Kavigosthi 2064 to be held in Umbu

We are very happy to inform you that the 9th Wambule Rai Language Poetry Contest 2007 (Wambule Rai Bhasako Kavigosthi 2064) is going to held on Thursday VS 2064 Katik 15 (November 1, 2007) in Umbu VDC Ward No. 1 Rinuwal, Okhaldhunga District. The Wambule Rai Bhasako Kavigosthi, which was first held in VS 2055 Katik 1, is organized by the Wambule Rai Society of Nepal (WAMRAS) and Libju-Bhumju Magazine.

The program is organised by local youth clubs, such as the following:

  1. Srijana Yuba Club
  2. Bhimsen Sthan Yuba Club
  3. Libju Janakalyan Yuba Club
  4. Sunakhari Koseli Yuba Club
  5. Phoolbari Yuba Club
  6. Sagarmatha Yuba Club
  7. Chomolongma Yuba Club

Every year the program is organize in a different village. The program is attending by Wambule Rai youths from Okhaldhunga, Khotang, Udayapur, Sindhuli and other districts. Participants recite poem, song and comedy etc., and take part in a binayo ‘harp’ competition (a traditional musical instrument).

The competitors receive a money prize: first prize Rs. 500, second prize Rs. 300, third prize Rs. 200 and consolation prize Rs. 100 for five person. All of the participants receive a certificate from the chief guest.

This year’s Kavigosthi will be organised by Jana Jyoti Yuba Club of Umbu-1 Rinuwal, Okhaldhunga. According to Mr. Medal Rai, vice-president of the club, the festival will be held on the club’s new football ground.

WAMRAS is a social organisation. We collect money from our members by charging membership fees. We play Deuso Bhailo Tihar or Dipawali occasion. Last year we could not organise these programs. So, we could not collect money. Now, we have problems running our continue program. Therefore, we request to you all please, help us money as you wish.
