Libju-Bhumju Award 2063 for Mr. Kyampa Rai

Wambule Rai Literature Publication has awarded the Libju-Bhumju Puraskar 2063 to Mr. Prakash Hari Kyampa Rai.

The award is presented annualy for the best poem published in Libju-Bhumju quarterly magazine. The selected poem was published in Libju-Bhumju 32, 2006.

Mr. Prakash Hari’s poem entitled ‘Aasyang Aablanui Jaumo’ (Why Didn’t Come Jaumo/Sisters) was selected by Mr. Abinath Rai, co-ordination of the Prize Selection Committee and chief advisor of the publication.

The theme of the poem is related to the Mundhum, holy mantras like the Hindu Veda or the Christian Bible. The words are:

We are trying to preserve the rituals and cultural heritage.
Jaumo, you will have to do your duty.
We are waiting for you to do the rituals and celebrate the ceremony.

The award was established nine years ago by Mr. Puspa Hari Kyampa Rai, a senior journalist of Nepal Television and a Nepali lyricist. It is the only award for Kirat Wambule Rai language and literature.

The award was previously won by poets Mr. Birahi Bimal Rai, Mr. Rajan Subuku Rai, Mr. Subha Chandra Rai ‘Suwas’, Mr. Pramod Dindukhi Rai and Mr. Durga Bairangi Rai.

This year’s award will be handed over during a special ceremony on the occasion of the Wambule Rai Language Poem Content in Umbu VDC Ward No. 1 Rinuwal Salle, Okhaldhunga, eastern part of Nepal, on November 1, 2007.
