Wambule Rai Language Literacy Class

Dear all,

We concluded five days the Wambule Rai Language Literacy Class today, 30 June, 2007. It is the first event of the Wambule Rai Society about mother tongue literacy program, helped by Nepal Aadibasi Janajati Utthan Rastriya Pratisthan.

Participants were 31 persons, including 14 ladies, aged 12 to 30. The program held fruitfully. We interacted with linguistics like Prof. Dr. Novel Kishor Rai, Prof. Dr. Madhav P. Pokhrel, Dr. Govinda Subba, Mr. Amrit Yonjan Tamang and newly researcher Mr. Bhal Bahadur Adhikary.

Other participants were Wambule personalities Mr. Abinath Rai (Wambule dictionary maker), Mr. Ganesh Rai (editor, Libju-Bhumju magazine), Poet Byakul Maila (lyricist of new national anthem of Nepal), Mr. Puspahari Kyampa Rai (senior news editor of NTV), Mr. Gajur Dhan Rai (journalist of NTV), Mr. Basanta Rai (freelancer Journalist) and Mr. Krishnajit Rai (Wambule cultural film maker).

Venue was Suryodaya Sai Secondary School Hall, located Imadol VDC ward No. 6, Lalitpur, Nepal.

We evaluated the program, which was very interesting and fruitful. Linguistics helped us to define our Wambule language sounds. We defined 24 consonant and 12 vowel sounds. This language have 3 kinds of stops 1. Implosive stops B, D and L sound. According to linguistics it is peculiar character of Wambule language.

We are trying to grow up our moter tongue, culture and literature.

Our Chief Guest was Mr. Bala Bahadur Rai, MP and former minister and certificate was distributed by Mr. Novel Kishor Rai, former Ambassador. Mr. Abinath Rai has highlighted the society and its progressive activities.
